Reading and Writing Workshop Testimonials for ‘Please Sir, The Gremlin Ate My Homework!’ KS2:

Karen was great. Her delivery of each book was meaningful, purposeful and fun. Each session was thoughtfully tailored for each specific year group’s skills and every child was engaged and enjoying sharing their ideas. Super interactive activities with lots of resources provided by the author. Children were eager to purchase her books and we hope that Karen will visit us again in the future.

Mrs Tidey, Literacy Lead

Karen recently came into our school and delivered a range of workshops around her book ‘Please Sir, The Gremlin Ate My Homework.’ These workshops were fantastic. The children really enjoyed them and were really engaged with the lessons Karen had planned. The sessions were inspiring and the children were challenged by the wonderful tasks that accompanied the workshops. Thank you so much.

The children remained engaged throughout the workshop due to Karen’s great inspiration and interaction. Following the workshop, the children kept talking about wanting to read ‘Please Sir, The Gremlin Ate My Homework!’ What was really great was how our reluctant readers also wanted to read Karen’s book.

The author recently came into our school to work with our KS2 classes.  The workshops that she selected to carry out with the children were wonderfully matched to the children’s differing levels of maturity.  The classes were inspired by her writing and became fully engaged with the deeper thinking she encouraged them to do in line with some of the central themes of her fabulous book, Please Sir, The Gremlin Ate My Homework!

Year 5 students really enjoyed meeting a real-life author. They found the workshop activities engaging and were intrigued to hear more extracts from the book. Many couldn’t wait to receive their own copy and start reading for themselves!
