Reading and Writing Workshop Testimonials for ‘The Tombstone Detective Agency’ KS2:
We were thrilled to welcome Karen to Cedar for 2 days of exciting and engaging workshops. It was fantastic that Karen was able to provide targeted workshops for all year groups based on her popular novel, ‘The Tombstone detective Agency’. The children really enjoyed taking part, and I have had extremely positive feedback from staff in terms of how the work the children did with Karen has improved their writing in the weeks since. I was very impressed with how she was able to match the activities to the children’s ability levels, while also showing a strong understanding of the requirements of the National Curriculum for each key stage. I would highly recommend Karen’s visits to other schools – her love of stories and writing is inspiring, and the children will remember her visit for a long time.

Karen came to our school to work with our pupils to boost the engagement in writing.
She was fantastic!
All of the children thoroughly enjoyed her sessions and it has engaged them to write some of their own stories!
We cannot wait to have her back next year for more fun sessions.
They also loved that she had written a book about their local town, Rochester, and lots even brought their own copies!
Thank you Karen, very much appreciated.

Author KD Greaves visited our school last week, delivering writing workshops based on her books to years 2- 5.
In each instance the children were captivated by the stories and loved sharing their ideas with her based on the extract readings.
The writing activities were perfectly pitched and really captured their imagination.
While they were working on the writing task, KD Greaves encouraged the children on a one-to-one basis and offered further ideas to develop their writing whilst validating the ideas and suggestions they already had.
The feedback from both the children and teaching staff for the visit has been excellent, and we are really pleased that she was able to give the time that she did for the visit and the time and consideration that she gave to the workshops and most importantly to the children.
For many of the children, this could be one of their best remembered school days of the year and I would highly recommend other schools to invite KD Greaves into their schools to give their pupils the opportunity to work with an author who clearly cares deeply about igniting the writing spark in others.
